The sun was out for Summer Rhythm

What a day!

Daventry was blessed with the sunshine for the first joint event between TYMBA and BYBA.

In the TYMBA competition and Chesham All Girls came out top in the Contest Class with a great show by Grafton District Scout Band on the day too.  Keeping the theme going, Haverettes All Girls got the win over Biggleswade to be named the Championship Class winners on the day.

In the National Class, it’s hard to think of a time when the scores were closer between Alderley District Scout Band, Thurmaston Marching Brass and Rhyl Youth Marching Band.

Two weeks after the bands last competed it was Alderley who, for the second time this year, won the top class, with Thurmaston runners up.

Andy Downton, TYMBA Contest Organiser and Vice Chairman, said: “This has to have been one of the most exciting days in marching banding for a long while!  Both organisations working together really have something special for the audience, but also the playing members to see what other bands are doing.

“A highlight for me was seeing all the bands marching forward, all together, in an impressive show that youth marching bands are still here!

“For TYMBA bands, it’s a bit of a break now until the Greater Manchester Competition in September which includes the TYMBA Nationals 2017, but I’m sure the hard work will continue through the summer with all eyes on the TYMBA League!”
